Bishop Malasa encourage Deacons to work for the poor

This was said on Saturday the 1st of July, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul cathedral during the ordination service of five deacons, by the Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire Right Reverend Brighton Vitta Malasa.

During this colourful event, Bishop Brighton Vitta Malasa ordained Benjamin Chilonga, Chikondi Pembamoyo, Justice Namangale, Lawrence Chipwatali and William Brake Maulidi as new deacons for the Diocese of Upper Shire.

He reminded all newly ordained deacons that priesthood is a calling and it should be treated as such, He continued by reminding them of their duties such as proclaiming the good news, preaching and serving both people regardless of their social economical status.

On the other hand, Rev. Canon Hopeson Jailosi encouraged the new deacons to be humble and respectful to the elders in the ministry. This was said during his well presented homily. He further said that learning is a continuous process as such they should learn good things from other priests who have served the church for a period.

After the event the newly ordained deacon have been commissioned to serve people in the parishes of Matope, Monkey- Bay, Nkope hill, Malindi and Mpondas’ cathedral.
